I would firstly like to say a big ‘Hello’ to all of my customers, both long term and recent! Writing a blog is something I have been eager to do for some time now, and so I have decided to get to it 🙂
As you may or may not know, Bella Beauty was started by myself, Francesca, in November 2012. Having studied Law at Bournemouth University but unsure if a legal career was for me, I made the decision to re train in Beauty Therapy in 2008. After qualifying and earning my stripes in some beautiful and well established salons around Berkshire and Surrey, I felt I had the tools I needed to set up on my own and make my mark in the Beauty industry!
For the first 4 years of my business life, I rented a small beauty room above a hair salon in Twyford, Berkshire. Here I built up a fab client base and met so many amazing people that I still have as friends and clients today!
While I can honestly say there are no treatments that I don’t enjoy doing, like most therapists, I definitely have my favourites! Those being skin care and make up 🙂
Relocation, relocation, relocation…
With the relocation of Bella Beauty to my lovely, purpose built home studio in Shinfield in September 2016, I decided that was the perfect opportunity to focus primarily on these two passions of mine and really specialise to the best of my ability. And so came a further 18 months of extra learning and updated training courses, to ensure I continue to offer my customers the best possible services and knowledge I can give! This also seemed like the perfect time to slightly rebrand myself, and so Bella Beauty Skin Centre was born.
So why Dermalogica & CACI…?
Having trained with the Dermalogica brand while working for a salon a few years prior and experiencing 1st hand on my own problematic skin how transformative and powerful the products really are, it was a no-brainer for me when deciding which skin care brand I wanted to use when providing facial services within my business. With skin being one of my biggest interests and passions, I was keen to source the best of the best, and I still feel to this day that Dermalogica are exactly that! Not only in terms of their product development and innovations, but also constantly being at the forefront of the industry and their unrivaled business support and training.
I am very proud to say that I became one of the very first Dermalogica EXPERT therapists in the whole of Berkshire back in early 2013. Gaining this recognition meant that I was among a small handful of therapists that had gone the extra mile and not only learnt about the Dermalogica products and what they can do for the skin, but the much more in-depth aspects of skin health, the science being why our skin does what it does, the science being the ingredients we use on our skins and much more – it was like doing A Level Science all over again and I loved it!!
I keep my training up to date throughout the year and as a result have renewed my EXPERT status every year since passing in 2013.
Another interest of mine has always been technology and innovation, and so when I had the opportunity to bring on a machine facial option to my business I was thrilled! I had heard so much about the benefits of microcurrent technology for the skin and muscular networks and how much it can accelerate the efficacy of the products we already use, and so after spending countless months researching the best systems, CACI Non-Surgical Solutions was added to the Bella Beauty Skin Centre treatment family in 2015 and I haven’t looked back! I am honestly still amazed at the results this machine can provide!!! The best part is, it goes hand in hand with the Dermalogica products that I already know and love – bonus!
You can find me top of the list for the RG2 postcode on both the Dermalogica and CACI websites 🙂
Make Up junkie and proud…
As I mentioned earlier, my other passion is make up 🙂 Now my husband may argue it’s verging on an obsession (honestly, you should see my make up bags – yes, plural), but I find everything about make up artistry so enthralling and therapeutic! From the new techniques being tried out on a daily basis, to the product developments and the absolutely awe inspiring looks created by artists all around the world. I could watch, listen, learn and play with make up all day long!! So why not. I decided when I relocated my business that I would really focus on this passion as well. And let’s be honest, what two treatments compliment each other better than skin care and make up! They go together like bread and butter, Sundays and roast dinners, gin and tonic…you get my drift 🙂
So during recent months, I have been doing an advanced make up course to ‘brush up’ (pun intended) on my make up skills. So much of what make up artists create is self taught, and so after training 10 years ago and self-teaching from there, I decided it was time to learn some more creative and in-depth tips and tricks from one of the best in the business – and that I did. I have had the immense honour of having 1-on-1 training with one of the most talented, highly respected and decorated make up artists in the industry!! I was lucky enough to have private tuition with Zara Findlay, one of the Bobbi Brown UK PRO artistry team. Now this lady lives the dream! She is responsible for some of the most incredibly polished famous faces we all know, love and admire on the covers of magazines and was directly trained by Bobbi Brown herself!! Learning from Zara was such an amazing opportunity for me and one that I made the most of every minute! I had booked Zara to do my wedding make up in July 2017 and being the sweet and lovely person she is, we had stayed in touch. So when I wanted to improve my skills I was delighted to discover that she offered private tuition courses. The best money I have ever invested for myself and my business!
And so here we are, Summer 2018, the sun is shining and I am genuinely excited for what the future holds for me and my business. I have some big plans for the remainder of this year…one of which is becoming a family of 3!!! My husband and I are expecting our 1st baby in October 2018 and we couldn’t be more excited! The joy of working from home is that I will still get to do what I love while being a Mummy at the same time 🙂
I hope this first attempt at a blog post has helped to tell you a little more about me and how Bella Beauty Skin Centre came to be what it is today.
I will be writing new blog posts regularly about a whole host of skin and make up related topics. If there is ever anything in particular you would like me to talk about then I would love to hear from you! Also, constructive criticism is always welcome (I am new to blogging after all).
Until next time, I hope you all continue to enjoy this beautiful weather and don’t forget your SPF 🙂
